音楽家・北航平（Kita Kouhei）と、東北・石巻を拠点に活動する音楽家で郷土芸能愛好家の四倉由公彦（Yukihiko Yotsukura）。独自の美学を持つ二人の音楽家による初のコラボレーション・アルバム『静寂光りて（Shijima Hikarite）』が、3月25日（水）にリリースされる。
本作が描き出すのは、日本の冬が持つ静けさと、春への移り変わり、凛と張り詰めた空気。そして、音と音の隙間に宿る「間」の美学である。
水のような煌めきを放つアレイムビラや、温かな木製スリットドラム、様々なパーカッションを操る北航平。そこに、郷土芸能愛好家としての顔も持つ四倉由公彦による篠笛の幽玄な旋律、カンテレの繊細な爪弾き、そして東北の風土を感じさせる環境音が重なり合い、繊細で有機的な音の層を描き出している。
互いの音が静かに呼応し合うことで生まれた本作は、冬の光が差し込む静かな風景のように、透明感と温度を併せ持つアンビエント・アルバムとなっている。
また、アルバムおよび各楽曲のタイトルは、北航平の別プロジェクトであるアンビエントユニット coconoe のボーカリスト 高山奈帆子によって名付けられており、作品世界に繊細な詩的イメージを与え、音の風景にさらなる奥行きを与えている。
古来より日本人が大切にしてきた「静謐」という感覚を、現代のアンビエント・ミュージックとして昇華した本作。深い雪に包まれた森の中で、春に向けての一筋の光を見出すような、清らかな音楽体験を届ける。

On March 25th, ambient musicians Kita Kouhei and Yukihiko Yotsukura (based in Ishinomaki, Tohoku) will release their collaborative album, Shijima Hikarite. The album explores the essence of “Ma” (the beauty of empty space), capturing the crisp, dignified air and the profound silence of the transition from winter to spring in Japan. It is a work of exquisite tranquility that bridges traditional Japanese sensibilities with contemporary ambient music. The soundscape is woven from a rich tapestry of instrumentation. Kita Kouhei utilizes the water-like tones of the ArrayMbira, along with the wooden tongue drum, kalimba, and various percussions (including frame drums and drums). These layers are complemented by Yotsukura—a lover of traditional folk performing arts—who contributes the ethereal melodies of the Shinobue (bamboo flute), the delicate plucking of the Kantele, guitar, and evocative field recordings. The evocative titles for the album and its tracks were penned by Takayama Naoko, vocalist of the ambient unit “coconoe,” adding a poetic dimension to the sonic journey. Shijima Hikarite invites the listener into a world of crystalline beauty, offering a moment of deep reflection and peace amidst the changing stillness of the seasons.
